The End of the Road

This is a picture of me at the mouth of Southwest Pass in the summer of 98. This is the point where a large portion of the water from the Mississippi River empties into the Gulf of Mexico.

I had ridden all up and down the Mississippi River system for years before. I finally got the chance to get to the end of the line when I worked a brief stint onboard the supply boat, E.W. Lutz. Right here I am taking a break from chipping and grinding the top of the wheelhouse to enjoy the scenery. Out on the horizon, you can see ships waiting for clearence to enter the channel and cruise up the river. It sure was a treat to finally see where the water empties into the sea.
